Why are prices quotes in Canadian Dollars?
Dance
Plus Inc. is a Canadian retailer and wholesaler
based in Toronto, Canada. The VISA and MasterCard
account agreement with our Bank only allows us to charge
customers in Canadian funds, at this time. Therefore,
the price of our products, and the price that you will
pay....is the Canadian $ amount listed for each item (e.g.,
Price: $34.95 CDN).
Now, since we have many American friends that buy from
us we have also provided a currency converter (provided
by xe.com) that gives
the latest available market data, but does not
include buy or sell margins. The exact rate you pay is
determined by your credit card company. You can expect
them to include a small margin in their conversion rate.
What
amount will I see on my Credit Card Statement?
Your
Credit Card company will automatically calculate
the amount of your purchase in US Dollars - you
don't have to do a thing!!
Your Credit Card Company will receive the amount of your
purchase in Canadian Dollars from us and apply an
"Exchange Rate" to determine the appropriate
amount in US Dollars. Your monthly statement will
quote your purchase in Canadian Dollars (so
that you can compare your statement of confirmation from
us)
and will also indicate the actual charge in US Dollars
using the "Exchange Rate". As you always do,
you will make payment to your Credit Card company in US
Dollars. Your Credit Card company makes it easy to
purchase from Canada as well as other countries!
What's
the deal with Exchange Rates?
Two
things will effect the final exchange rate that is used
on your final bill. The "Exchange Rate" provided by our currency
converter will be close to the final amount
that appears on your credit card statement. However, the
final charge will be calculated using the daily foreign
exchange rate at your bank; we do not set this rate. Most credit card exchange
rates are fairly competitive, but you may want to call your credit card company
in advance for more information. Additionally the bank will use the daily rate
from the day they post the transaction, not the date
that you place the order and not the date that you used
our currency converter. We charge your credit card the
day we ship your order out, not the day you place the
order. The credit company may also not post the
transaction until the following day.
Exchange rates do fluxuate, but between Canada and the
US the rate only fluxuates a mere cent (at most) over
the course of a month or two. Therefore, you
should not be too surprised when you receive your
statement.
What
does this mean for Americans?
Over the past few years, and even NOW, the Exchange Rate
is really in YOUR favour. As an American, your
strong dollar allows you to automatically save
approximately 35%
on the price of your order. Ten ($10) US Dollars
will buy you about $15.00 Canadian worth of CDs! Put another way, you only need to spend
about $6.50 to purchase a $10 CD!!
Most Ballroom Dance Music sites on the internet charge you in US Dollars....you save by buying

We have
checked the cost of a typical CD (we used Move from the
Casa Musica series) at several of our competitors. We used a rate of 1.50 to approximate the price of
our CD in US Dollars. Given exchange rates over the past year
this is a more than reasonable rate in which to calculate
the US Dollar equivalent. You may be more familiar
with the 1.50 rate quoted as 0.6667.
What this later rate means is that you can approximate
the price of our CDs in US Dollars by multiplying
the Canadian dollar price by 0.6667.
For example, the CD on our site which costs $34.95 Canadian, is ....
