Last
month Dance Plus staff attended the British Open Championships in
Blackpool,
England. In addition to the exciting dancing, we also visited the exposition
floor to see the new music and other products being introduced at the
festival. The hottest selling CD was Tony Evans new CD, "Dance Me to
the End
of Love". While the choice of some of the music tracks were familiar
tunes, the versions were all new and featured vocalists with unbelievable
range and tone. The version of "Phantom of the Opera" was the best
we have ever heard. |

& MOVIE NEWS!

A new film based on the life of Pierre Dulaine, an accomplished dance teacher who takes a class of young Hip Hop dancers in New York and transforms them through ballroom dancing. The film which is wrapping shooting in Toronto stars Antonio Banderas. Production personnel from the film visited Dance Plus to get ideas and borrow items from our store to enhance their sets. The booth we use when at dance competitions was also used in filming, as were trophies won by Barbara & Ron Wilson, owners of Dance Plus. The highlight of our experience with this film occured when we went down to the set to fit the actors for International Dance Shoes from our store. The young actors in the film were learning their steps when Pierre and Barbara danced a few steps to show the young actors, "how it's really done!" The film is expected to be released in January 2006.
Kelly Monaco won the "Dancing with the Stars" title Wednesday night (July 6), and the biggest summertime audience in close to three years watched her do it. The show's season finale brought in 22.6 million viewers, a series high and the best performance by any summer show since the first season of American Idol. |  |
