Time for another update from Dance Plus. We wrote to you to at the end of May to tell you about the 9 CDs we received just before the Blackpool Festival in England. While we were at the festival we found out about another 17 new releases and we have now have all titles in stock. As we explained last month this is a big release time with lots of new titles as suppliers time their new releases to coincide with the festival. This newsletter also includes some notes about our visit to Blackpool. This CD has the best latin practice tracks. You will have fun dancing, practicing and teaching to this CD.
Cool Hands Fast Feet - Tony Evans
Tony's Fans will not be disappointed with this Big Band collection of music. Ideal for practice and teaching.
Latin Groove Party - Various
This CD was not produced for strict time dancing but includes some popular tracks that make good Meringues. The sambas are slow but would be good for practice or teaching (see timings). Since this CD is not an import it's price is only $19.75 US.
Best of Black Music - Vol 2 - Markus Schoffl
This CD features the music of popular Black recording artists, re-recorded in strict time for dancing. While not the original artists, the vocals are very good. A nice sequel!
Gold Master 2003 - E. Musicali
The first 8 tracks are instrumental, and the remaining tracks are vocal. The standard tracks have a very classical/jazzy sound, and the latin tracks are very authentic sounding.
Rimini Open V4 - Balls of Fire - E. Musicali
A great selection of popular music. Includes five competition length tracks. A great sequel in this series
Extreme - Sicilia Open 4 - E. Musicali
This CD has 22 tracks, 5 of which are competition length. While some of the tracks are vocal, many are beautiful instrumental melodies.

Blackpool Festival News
In our last newsletter, I wrote that I was leaving for England to attend the British Open Championships in Blackpool, England, and I promised to share news of the event in this newsletter. I've created a page with a slide show of pictures that we took of the dancing, along with the final results of the professional latin and the professional standard..

The trip was great and we had a chance to meet with several music publishers. One of the highlights of the trip was meeting Tony Evans. Not only is he a very talented musician, he is a very nice and interesting gentleman, who entertained us with stories of when he played for Frank Sinatra.

For those of you that are in driving distance of our retail location in Toronto, here's what's new in our off-line world: 
  • We love Casa Musica's CDs and now they have a new video. In the 8 chapters provided in this technique video, Oliver Wessel-Therhorn gives you a close inside look into the secrets of balance, foot and leg action, movement in space, lowering and rising, rotations, sway, promenades and role-play. The basics of Tango have their own chapter. Principles that apply in all steps and variations are explained and visually demonstrated by the world-renowned couple Brian Erisen & Marianne Eihilt (Denmark). Oliver is a former amateur world and British champion in both ballroom dancing and in all 10 dances. He teaches many champions worldwide and is currently the national coach of Germany.
  • One of the biggest sellers at the International Dance Shoes booth at the Blackpool Festival was the new dance sneaker called Reactiv. We now have sizes 2 through 7 in stock and the larger sizes will be in stock in mid-july. Many of the sizes sold out in Blackpool so this new shoe is likely to be very popular. Come to the store and try a pair on!
