Change is hard. Change during COVID… harder. However, we are mindful that so many other small businesses are really struggling and many have closed. We are still here, and we are very grateful for that.
After 22 years at our current location on Dorchester Avenue, our landlord informed us that he is ending our rental agreement, and absorbing the space into his own business. Therefore, we have to find a new location. While we are currently closed due to the Toronto lockdown, we have to leave the space by February 28th. We plan to find a new location and we plan on opening a new store when we all can dance again and social dances, competitions, and dance lessons have resumed.
We will miss this location. In 1999, when we needed more space, it was our friends at the 30-up Club who suggested we take the rental space next to their unit, and it\’s been a great relationship for us both. We want them to thank them for being such great neighbours. We hope we can find a location close to other businesses or clubs in our dance world, and welcome any suggestions from the dance community that we have been apart of for almost 40 years. The fortieth anniversary of our family business happens this September, so we are not stopping now.
We want to minimize the inconvenience to our customers and we will still be able to order your shoes, and send supplies. Our web site is available for you to browse the styles, but we also want you to call us with your questions. Barbara and Ron will still be available to give you fitting advice. Already we have used video chat to help customers and guide them to the right pair of dance shoes. Once the lockdown is over we hope to be able to do some fittings by appointment, but we are still working on a temporary location and will have more information later.
Please don’t forget that we have kept fitting notes and size information on almost every shoe purchase for the last 30 years, so chances are we have your purchase history, sizing information, fitting notes, and heel preferences on file, and can use that knowledge to help you find your next pair of dance shoes.
